The custard apple or sweet-sop is the edible fruit of Annona squamosa, available only during certain seasons, and has creamy flesh with a custard-like texture – hence the name. It is rich in dietary fibre, vitamins C and B6, potassium, and antioxidants. The custard apple also has cancer-prevention properties.
